Kid Friendly: Baela previously lived in a home with young children, so she should be kid friendly. Her foster family does not have children.

Training: Knows sit, down, shake, kennel up, come; working on stay and leave it. She takes treats so gently!

Grooming Needs: Baela has a standard husky coat which will require regular thorough brushing. You should aim for once a week or so, and more when she is blowing her coat, typically twice a year.

Fence: She needs a tie out; she has a history of jumping fences

Solo or Siblings: She would love to have another dog to play with but would also do fine as an only dog with an active family.

From the Foster: Baela came to AAHMN from Animal Control, where she and her son were surrendered by the previous family after they escaped the yard and killed some chickens. Despite her issues with feathered animals, Baela is a sweet girl and seems to get along with most everyone else, both dog and human. She's about 3 years old and pretty well behaved, playing nicely with her foster fur siblings (one male and one female) and recognizing when they've had enough and need to rest. She also does pretty well on a leash and has even gone for a few runs with her foster mom and her fur siblings! Unfortunately, her athleticism gives her the ability to jump fences, most recently a 5 ft fence. She will need a strong tie out to keep her contained, even if her new home has a fenced yard. She has been loving all the snow we've had though, and it's been so fun to see her so happy! Baela is working on getting used to a crate again and takes a while to settle down when her foster parents are at work, but she does a great job sleeping in it at night. After she's had some exercise, she is content to settle down next to you and relax for the night. Baela is ready to find her forever home and will make a great addition to a lucky family!
