About Bo - 0403

Sex: Male

Color: Black/White/Tan

Eye Color: Brown

Birthday: 6/04/2022

Weight: 57 lbs

Large Dog Friendly: Yes

Small Dog Friendly: Unsure, he has met a small dog through a fence and done well, but hasn't had any playtime together.

Cat Friendly: No, Bo is starting to show more prey drive and interest in the foster cat in his home.

Crate Trained: Working on it. He's comfortable in there for short periods as long as someone is nearby. He's really good at night and when we aren't home so we don't need to crate him. He is not destructive when left out of the crate and plays with our husky Braxie or sleeps.

Housebroken: Yes

Energy Level: Medium/High

Reaction to New People: Very friendly with new people.

Kid Friendly: We haven't had him around little kids but he is so sweet and pretty gentle

Training: Working on sit, stay and come. We are working on not pulling on the leash and he's gotten better. Pulls when he sees another dog so working on sitting and staying until they walk by. We use a leash with a traffic loop to keep him close and it helps.

Grooming Needs: Bo is a fluffy guy, so he will need regular and thorough brushing, at least weekly. His forever family should expect an increase in his brushing needs when he blows his coat, usually twice per year.

Fence: We have a 4/4.5 foot fence. We've kept him on a tie out until we knew how he'd do with the fence and he's been great the few times he's been loose. We just stay right by him and keep him interested in playing with us and running. He hasn't shown any interest in challenging the fence. Our husky Braxie doesn't challenge the fence and I think Bo just wants to do what Braxie does and be by him.

Solo or Siblings: We'd recommend siblings since that's what he's used to and loves being near our dog. That way he's not alone if we aren't home. With his past I could see him not wanting to be left alone.

From the foster: Bo has been our first experience with fostering. We were nervous about how it would go and honestly, Bo has been a dream. We have things to work on but he is so happy, loving, energetic and funny! The first week or so he kept trying to get out the door when we would come in and out but it has stopped for the most part. We think he was scared he was going to be left behind again. He has quickly learned our routines and expectations. We spend a lot of time at home so he has gotten a lot of time and attention! Bo loves to go on walks and play in the backyard. He LOVES squeaky balls/toys and chasing/wrestling. He wasn't sure what to do with a frozen kong with fruit and peanut butter but Braxie has shown him how awesome they are! Bo is very affectionate and loves to give kisses. He usually sleeps on the bedroom floor (but will come on the bed for short times) and enjoys waking us in the morning with kisses and snuggles. Bo is a quiet husky, no whoo-whooing and only a little barking. He does whine sometimes but it usually means he has to go outside or he sees something exciting. We loved Bo immediately and know everyone else will too!
