Crate Trained: He can be left alone to roam free in the house if he gets his exercise for the day and all food/trash cans are put away. Left alone for long periods, leads to accidents in the house.

Good With Kids: May questionable with small children due to his high food drive. This IS being worked on and there have been improvements. A meet and greet with the children would be required.

Training: KNOWS: Sit, lay/"go lay down", wait, off, leave it, name recall and is E-Collar trained! He does wonderful in large dog parks with the E-collar. Also knows "gentle which is huge!! Especially when giving him food! WORKING ON: drop it - but leave it seems to be the drop it, ALWAYS working on leave it, place (time-out), walking nicely on a leash and social ques - when dogs do not want to play. Does lunge for food but this is getting better. Needs a slow feeder bowl because he inhales his food.

Comments: Porter is a 1 year old husky that was an owner surrender to Adopt A Husky MN due to no fault of his own. Porter came into rescue with very little manners. It was apparent that through his one year of life, he was not given the structure, training, or guidance that he needs. Porter is a young boy that behaves like a puppy. As a high energy husky with puppy behaviors, Porter would flourish in a home with an adventurous family and strong, confident leader to teach him his boundaries and consistency. He would also benefit immensely from obedience training. Porter would do great with a family who enjoys outdoor activities such as biking and ski-joring because he loves to pull. His "off button" is his chest being rubbed. He is very affectionate and cuddly. Does great with routine and structure. We have seen great improvements with the E-Collar. He is a counter surfer so food must be put away. Does not have any toy aggression. He has improved so much! He is a social dog and gets along with others, dogs and humans alike. Porter loves one on one attention (especially belly rubs!) and would do well in a house with another high energy dog. In the short time with his foster family, Porter has worked hard at learning the rules of the house and has proven to be a very smart boy! Porter is very food motivated and aims to please his humans. If you're in the market for a smart, energetic boy that loves to cuddle and give kisses, Porter's your man!

All our fosters are: Spayed or neutered before adoption. Evaluated for temperament and train-ability. Up to date on rabies, distemper and bordetella, Heart-worm tested and on preventative year round. Micro-chipped.
