Comments: Susie came to us as a breeder/puppy mill surrender. She was extremely fearful of human contact, as she probably did not receive much for her first 7 years of life. In foster care, she is learning that humans aren't all bad. She is still very nervous around new people, and will take a few weeks to settle into her forever home. This just takes time, socialization and a patient home. She will need another dog in the home to learn from. She follows her foster siblings lead, especially when it comes to going outside to go potty. She has learned that being rescued means she has a warm place to sleep, gets treats, and has toys to play with. She would probably be great with children, but we would prefer a calmer home with older children over 12 years, simply for her growth and development. She will also need a fenced yard to keep her safe, as she is a flight risk with her nervous nature. She is extremely gentle and will make an amazing companion to whoever is willing to put in the extra work and time needed to help this sweet girl learn how to live the good life.

All our fosters are: Spayed or neutered before adoption. Evaluated for temperament and trainability. Up to date on rabies, distemper and bordetella, Heartworm tested and on preventative year round. Microchipped.
