About Bob Barker
Sex: Male
Color: Gray & White
Eye Color: Blue
Birthday: 10/30/2022 (estimated)
Weight: 44 lbs
Large Dog Friendly: Yes
Small Dog Friendly: Yes, but plays energetically - may be too rough for really small dogs
Cat Friendly: Possibly with careful intro, training and supervision
Crate Trained: Yes
Housebroken: Yes. Paces and Boops when he needs to go out.
Energy Level: Very high energy. All play, all the time. Typical Husky wrestling.
Reaction to New People: Cautious at first, but friendly. Working on not jumping.
Kid Friendly: Yes, but his strength and energy may be better suited to older or dog savvy kids.
Training: Knows Sit, Down, Come. Come is subject to distraction. Working on Stay, Wait, and Off. Counter Surfing is a work in progress. He has amazing reach for his size. Knows how to walk on a loose lead, but excitement definitely takes over sometimes.
Grooming Needs: Standard Husky Coat. Needs regular brushing. Loves digging and mud, but cooperates well with being cleaned up. He has a hard time holding still for long, but he readily accepts all types of handling - feet, ears, mouth, tail.
Fence: 5-6 foot. Dig prevention stakes or concrete border. Not a jumper, but a climber and a master digger.
Solo or Siblings: He's VERY social. He has a very high need for companionship. He'd have a rough time without another dog, unless his human will interact with him regularly throughout the day.
From the Foster: Bob is a strong, energetic, young husky. His brain and body need plenty of exercise. He's very social with dogs and humans. He loves to play and explore from morning 'til night -- preferably outdoors. Indoors too, if you have a high tolerance for running, chasing, jumping and occasionally rearranging the furniture. He also loves to snuggle for brief periods. He will chill next to my work desk for an hour, with a selection of good chew toys, but he'd rather be playing. He will hop right in to his kennel any time you ask. He will nap there voluntarily and sleep through the night, but during the day does not enjoy it for long. He will howl at first but responds to Quiet-Stay. He loves long walks, especially good sniffing walks. He'll walk beside you, if you require it, but would rather be out front and pulling if you let him. He would definitely enjoy pulling sports. We've started introducing the bike and sled. He does not know Gee-Haw, but he will follow a trained leader. We are currently working on his fear of stairs. This playful boy will make a great adventure buddy for an active family.
