Crate Trained: Almost there! Merida is learning to go into the kennel with a prompt and a treat. On occasion, she will seek out her crate for some quiet time.

Housebroken: Almost there

Energy Level: Medium. She loves to play but is not overly energetic.

Reaction to New People: Very timid and shy but learns to warm up with time and lot's of treats!

Kid Friendly: Probably - Merida's foster family has two teenagers so she has not spent any time around young children.

Training: Merida is working on learning to walk on a leash, to come when called, sit, and how to be part of a multi-dog family.

Fence: Does great in fenced yards and hasn't shown any desire of looking over it to jump.

Solo or Siblings: Merida would do best when she has a partner to show her the ropes and follow their lead, but may also thrive as an only dog.

From the Foster:

Merida is a very sweet 1 to 1 year old dog. She is a beautiful brown and white husky with the softest fur her fosters have ever seen. She is learning to trust humans and accept affection. She prefers seeking out attention, rather than receiving it and will occasionally cower when approached. However, she loves to follow her foster family around and rarely leaves their side. She loves to play in the house and backyard with her foster siblings but is still learning the language of dogs and when she has overstepped her boundaries. She is eager to please, but still occasionally looks to dominate the pack. Merida is not yet walking on a leash and is struggling to overcome her fear of being on one. Her foster family is working on that regularly and her foster siblings are showing her how fun walks can be! She will sleep in her foster parents' bedroom at night and wake us up when she needs to go outside. However, she is still having accidents so she is not fully housebroken yet. Being a young dog, she is still learning what she is allowed to chew on and what needs to be left alone. Merida will make a great pet for someone with a lot of patience who is willing to work with her to provide lots of structure, exercise, and love!
